Noise pollution is a public health issue: about 40% of the population in EU countries is exposed to road traffic noise at levels exceeding 55 dB(A), with health and social costs reaching 40 B€ across the EU. Noise reduction is thus a crucial issue for citizens well-being, and vibroacoustic challenges are a major issue in key industrial domains such as transport and energy.
ABHSSYS ambitions to disrupt noise reduction in transport and energy domains, by taking advantage of a ground-breaking approach for noise and vibration mitigation based on Acoustic Black Holes (ABH). This radically new approach has a high industrial potential since it is i) Scalable: ABH enables significative noise and vibration reduction with only minor and local modification of the structure and compatible with usual industrial processes; ii) Deployable: ABH can be applied to numerous industrial fields and without requiring new designs; and iii) Green-friendly: ABH consist in removing some material.
