With 1.6 doctors per 1,000 people worldwide and 3.2 doctors per 1,000 people in France, medicine is under immense demographic pressure and providing appropriate access to care to the entire population is still a dream. According to the WHO, 1 in 4 people in Europe are affected by psychiatric disorders during their lifetime. In France, nearly 3 million people are affected by depression each year. An important challenge of artificial intelligence is to facilitate medical diagnoses.

In the context of maritime surveillance or anti-submarine warfare, knowledge of the acoustic field radiated or diffracted by a device immersed in water is essential for its operational or tactical use, as well as for its design. Monitoring systems include active and passive sonar devices. A passive sonar system exploits the noise radiated by the vehicule (submersible vessel, surface ship, drone, etc.) it seeks to detect. These radiated noises are generated by existing onboard machinery, cavitation, hydrodynamic flows, impulsive and transient sources, etc.

Medical implants replace dysfunctional or missing body parts to maintain physiological functions. The associated market is growing by 4%/year. However, the key factor restraining the market is high implant costs. In this view, PEEK and CRF-PEEK due to biocompatibility, mechanical properties similar to that of bone and radiolucency, are increasingly used instead of metals. But, these biomaterials are bionert inducing a very limited osseointegration, which is THE expectation for bone implants.

Pulmonary embolism (the blockage of a pulmonary artery by a blood clot) is the third cause of cardiovascular death in Europe. Upon diagnosis confirmation, clinicians evaluate the patient prognosis based on risk stratification models. The management of patient, thus its outcome, highly depend on this risk stratification. Recent studies confirmed that patient stratification based on computed tomography pulmonary angiogram (CTPA) are not well correlated to patient prognosis.

The GreeenLocal3D project focuses on models and experiments to facilitate the short circuit recycling of post-consumer plastic waste to be recovered and enhanced by additive manufacturing (AM) processes. In a new "distributed recycling" paradigm, this process must be accomplished by affordable and flexible technologies that cover a limited geographical area to form the basic unit of a "smart recycling network". More specifically, the objective is to study the possibility through AM to revalorize previously unsorted and/or unrecycled types of plastics.

Spasticity is a motor disorder characterized by muscular hyperactivity caused by impaired nerve conduction.  Diagnosis of this pathology relies on the assessment of the degree of resistance of the limb following a passive movement performed by the practitioner, and is used to determine the treatment to be followed. However, this assessment remains subjective and requires practical experience. Experience can only be gained by training on real patients.

Since the emergence of nanotechnology in the 80s, block copolymers are frequently used to design "preforms" to control the structure of inorganic nanoparticles. MANIOC's philosophy is based on the opposite reasoning. It consists in manipulating the microstructure of triblock copolymers by selectively adsorbing their ends on the surface of “stimulable” and “guidable” magnetic particles. The experimental process, allowing the design of non-equilibrium microstructures on demand, can be summarized in three steps:

Echocardiography plays a paramount role in day to day clinical practice to highlight structural or functional dysfunction of the heart. The observed abnormalities combined with clinical data of the patient lead to diagnoses, many of which requiring the performance of complementary examinations to diagnose the origin (etiology) of cardiac pathology which will modify the prognosis of patient and the subsequent therapy.
