LyonTech-la Doua campus

LyonTech-la Doua campus today has some 22,000 students and represents 40% of the scientific potential of Lyon with 80 research laboratories, 1,500 researchers and 1,300 PhD students.

The campus aims to become a world reference in cleantech, based on the site's two areas of excellence: chemistry and engineering for sustainable development.

A collaborative, reference eco-campus

  • A campus that is both an actor in and a driver of sustainable development on a 100-hectare site: sustainable storm water management, intelligent lighting, constructions and rehabilitations to HQE green building standards, etc.
  • A reorganisation by districts in order to pool services and optimise research and teaching.
  • A commitment to openness to the business world reinforced by the creation of a collaborative projects platform, an experimentation hall, and new start-up business hosting facilities.
  • The cleantech developed for the buildings and travelling also serve as support for research, training and experimentation, with the involvement of students, researchers and companies in the fields of energy, water quality, and travel.

Lyon Cité Campus

INSA Lyon, a key stakeholder in the Lyon Cité Campus project
INSA Lyon has played a significant role in the dynamics of the Lyon Cité Campus project and the development of the LyonTech-la Doua campus, selected within this framework by the French Ministry of Higher Education and Research².
Lyon Cité Campus is a restructuring project that aims to redefine the large university campuses of tomorrow by creating genuine living spaces open to the city and the economic world. Its goal: to promote higher education and research, and give Lyon's universities international visibility.

A network of partners

The University of Lyon is a community of universities and institutions (Communauté d'universités et établissements, COMUE) which brings together 11 universities and Grandes Écoles in Lyon and Saint-Etienne, as well as the CNRS (French National Centre for Scientific Research). This is the second-largest scientific centre in France.

The Conference des Grandes Ecoles (CGE [Grandes Ecoles Committee]): the association (law of 1901) of "Grandes Écoles" for engineering, management and diverse or specialised higher education, all recognised by the State and awarding a national diploma for a minimum of 5 years study after the Baccalaureate (A-levels).

The Alliance of “Grandes Écoles” Rhône-Alpes (AGERA): the regional association that groups together the higher education establishments in a network. 37 Grandes Ecoles in the Rhône-Alpes region belong to this network.
