Buildings: equality target met
The verdict is in: 14 out of 28 INSA buildings will be named after women. The Coulomb building is the first to be renamed in homage to Charlotte Perriand, a renowned French architect and designer.
It’s official: the target of equality in this area has been met at INSA Lyon thanks to the renaming of buildings. Staff and students were consulted on this project last February.
Their task: to vote for the names of women who have contributed to major scientific, humanistic or technological advances with exceptional careers.1300 people expressed their views and as a result of this consultation, the names of 9 new women will now adorn some of the buildings on our campus. A woman’s name will come to symbolise the ‘green road’ that runs through it, provisionally named Olympe de Gouges.
The first newly feminised building was inaugurated on Thursday 5 September and now bears the name of Charlotte Perriand, French architect and designer.
