Plastic Arts Studies

As of the 2nd year

All students admitted directly into the Second Cycle (3rd year at INSA) may also integrate this section.

Founded in 1987, the Plastic Arts Studies Section offers its students the opportunity to develop a culture and experience of different artistic techniques (drawing, painting, sculpture, photography) and also to develop their sensitivity to graphics, colours, volumes, spaces and their knowledge of aesthetic form.

The introduction to architecture and design starts in the second year with a 5-day seminar during which the student studies the different stages, from designing an object to creating the model. It is followed for a 3 month period working on a project, using a familiar object, and through which the student discovers the complexity involved in defining the concept as well as the legitimacy of the forms. Activities continue in the Second Cycle with the students’ participation in a workshop and more periodic activities.
