Le projet européen ITN MOIRA (Monitoring Large-Scale Complex Systems) a pour but de promouvoir la coopération entre des universités, des instituts des recherches et des industriels européens afin de développer une expertise en maintenance des parcs d’éolienne.

Le projet implique des actions de recherche en ingénierie mécanique, en science informatique, en traitement des signaux et des données et en problèmes inverses.

Silicate glasses are archetypal brittle materials where surface flaws dictate practical strength. Although there is little variation in the major mechanical properties of most silicate glasses (elastic modulus, hardness and fracture toughness all vary by less than a factor of two with composition), the resistance to surface damage stands out, with sometimes variations by two orders of magnitude with moderate composition changes.

This project is concerned with the fundamental study of an innovative damage detection and imaging method for structural monitoring. The principle is based on the use of ambient acoustic and vibrational noise as a substitute to incident ultrasound waves generated in conventional non-destructive testing methods.
