3-week program in June-July

A  3-week short program offering students the opportunity to learn about new technologies in the field of humanitarian engineering through innovative and interactive teaching. Through hands-ond experiments, students will acquire valuable international experience for their professional futures. This short program is also a perfect opportunity for students to learn French Language, to get to know French culture and the beautiful city of Lyon.

Technical Module: Humanitarian Engineering

This module includes two preparatory online sessions in May/June.

Objectives: Overview of the humanitarian sector and issues at stake, project cycle in humanitarian contexts, application of engineering competencies to the aid’s sector, work in groups on a case study. In collaboration with the NGO Humanity and Inclusion and Bioforce, a humanitarian training provider based in Lyon.

Cultural Module: French Language and Cross-Cultural Communication

French language and cross-cultural communication. Introduction to French as a foreign language and development of intercultural competence.

Note: This course is common to both the Human'INSA and InsAI programmes. Students from both cohorts are mixed together and are divided into groups according to their level of French.

  • 2 day trips, such as a visit to the Beaujolais region (wine tasting) and Annecy
  • Social gathering with INSA Lyon students
  • Farewell evening

Depending on a variety of factors, activities may change. 

     

 

Who can apply

  • All Science and Engineering students at undergraduate or graduate level
  • Both technical and cultural modules are entry-level courses
  • French language classes are divided into groups from beginners to advanced-level students

Please note that a minimum English level of B1 is required.

Application period: From 2 February to 30 April, 2026.

Costs

  • Partner cost: € 2,200
  • Full cost: € 4,800

Check with your mobility coordinator within your university if we have an agreement and if the partner cost applies.

 

The tuition fees include:

  • Shared accommodation on campus (shared bedroom for 2 with small kitchen and bathroom)
  • Breakfasts and lunches from Monday to Friday
  • Participation and transport for all leisure activities organised by INSA Lyon
  • Airport (Saint-Exupéry Lyon Airport) or Train station (Gare Part-Dieu) pick-up
  • Metro/tramway/bus tickets
  • Access to Wi-Fi on campus


The tuition fees do not include:

  • Plane tickets
  • Airport or train station drop-off
  • Personal health insurance
  • Meals on weekends and dinners
  • Personal activities
