The ESTEIM Vision Seminars, of which this event was an example, aims to explore a subject each year in association with a group of researchers from Finland. Its double ambition is to inform and communicate on a subject, but also to gather deliberations or opinions which will then be taken up and exploited by a research group at Aalto University in Helsinki.

As part of the Seminar programme, participants had three days in which to explore Grenoble before moving to Lyon, just in time for the Festival of Light. The 6 days were filled with conferences, debates, workshops and (of course) cultural activities to be enjoyed by all. Everything possible was done to enable each participant to take ownership of the subject of the Seminar, but also to absorb something of the local culture and the special atmosphere of intercultural gatherings.
