Recyclerie 2011

More partners for increased solidarity!

Having started out as a pilot project in 2010, the “Recyclerie” recycling programme was the brainchild of two students in the halls of residence at INSA Lyon and will once more take place in 2011, led by the Groupe Développement Durable (Sustainable Development Committee)*. This year it will receive technical support from Grand Lyon (the Urban Community of Lyon), financial support from the town of Villeurbanne and will form an integration programme run alongside the Salvation Army.

Based on the principle of a bring-and-buy sale, the project collects objects which are in good condition, as donated by residents when moving out, which are then sold at a token price to students when moving in for the new academic year in September. All of the takings are donated to student associations at INSA as well as for sustainable development projects run at the Institute. In addition to the environmental concept of reducing waste, the project also carries a social dimension through inspiring solidarity, as it concerns those students who are the most in need.

This year, INSA Lyon and the town of Villeurbanne are joining forces to implement a professional integration programme alongside the Salvation Army who will lend support for the collection activities undertaken in June. This initiative gives an additional dimension focusing on solidarity to the project, by allowing those without work and who are not integrated into society to find employment.
