On the road to the London Olympics
With athletes such as Bruno Marie-Rose, Stéphane Laporte, Eric Neisse, and Pascal Bahuaud, INSA Lyon has been represented at the summer Olympic Games since 1998, thanks to its students and/or engineers. In Beijing in 2008, a total of 7 athletes represented INSA Lyon and obtained 3 medals (Sara El Bekri, Jonathan Coeffic, Guillaume Florent, Brice Panel, Jean Christophe Péraud, Jeremy Pouge, Yan Rocherieux).
For 2012, the Olympic qualifications and selections are not yet finished, but two INSA Lyon engineers have already booked their tickets for the London Olympics.
In swimming, Sara El Bekri (GI graduate 2011), who won the 100m and 200m breaststroke at the French National Championships, has qualified for the London Olympics, where she will be representing Morocco. Sara El Bekri has a double career; she is an Information Systems consultant at the "ms2i Group" and an international-level swimmer.

In mountain-biking, Jean-Christophe Peraud (GEN graduate 2004), a silver-medallist in Beijing in 2008, has once again been selected in the French mountain-biking team and will compete in the Cross-Country event on 12 August 2012 in London.
Note: Jean-Christophe is taking part in the Tour de France 2012 in the AG2R LA MONDIALE team.
