"Equipex" call for projects

4 projects jointly promoted by the INSA Lyon laboratories, winners of the first wave of calls for "Equipex" projects

On Thursday 20 January 2011, Valérie Pécresse, Minister of Higher Education and Research, presented the 52 awards in the first wave of the “Equipment Excellence” call for projects. With a ceiling of one billion euros, the aim of the call for projects is to enable French laboratories to acquire cutting-edge scientific equipment for carrying out research work at the highest level, for the benefit of innovation and improved knowledge.

Among the 12 “Equipex” projects supported by Lyon University PRES, the Lyon-Saint-Etienne site saw the confirmation of 9 projects, including 4 for site equipment and 5 participations in inter-regional projects.
The INSA Lyon laboratories are participating in 3 site equipment projects and 1 inter-regional project.

Site equipment projects

  • PHARE (Machine Platform for the Control of Environmental Risks)
INSA Lyon laboratories involved: LMFA, LAMCOS, MATEIS
In the field of transport engineering, this project aims to improve the means of energy production, with rotating machines occupying a central position.

  • IVTV (Engineering and Ageing of Living Tissues)
INSA Lyon laboratories involved: LMFA, LAMCOS, MATEIS
In the health sector, IVTV creates a platform equipped with innovative tools for exploring the effects of ageing on human tissues, from the biological and mechanical points of view.

  • MANUTECH-SUD
INSA Lyon laboratories involved: CETHIL, LAMCOS, MATEIS

In the environment field, this project included innovative laser equipment, a new multi-scale surface characterisation system, and a 3-D characterisation tool (characterisation of surface materials), which will allow the rapid implementation and characterisation of model surfaces.

The inter-regional project

  • FIT (Future Internet)
    INSA Lyon laboratory involved: CITI

In the field of Information Sciences, FIT aims to create a national hardware and software network for full-scale testing of future internet technologies.
