A week to forget prejudices:
Looking back on the HandiCap'INSA 2013 Week
From March 11 to 15, 2013 was carried out the 7th edition of the disability awareness-raising week destined to the students and professionals of INSA Lyon Organised by the Handizgoud student association, in partnership with the Diversity and Success Centre, the Head of Human Resources and INSA Lyon Marie Curie Library, this awareness-raising week is the opportunity to learn, discover and exchange on the theme of disability.
2013 Novelty: the HandiCap'INSA distinction
It will be possible for engineer students participating to receive: the HandiCap'INSA distinction, an INSA diploma supplement, recognised by the INSA Lyon Foundation, as well as new contacts. This distinction highlights the student's interest in the field of disabilities.
Even if society today adapts more and more to the insertion of persons with disabilities in companies and working life, the requirement to employ 6% of disabled employees is far from being applied in all companies and prejudice is still rampant. By supporting this action, INSA Lyon, as a trainer of future engineers and managers, helps students approach the topic of disabilities.
"INSA Lyon mobilises the teachers and enables us to carry out presentations during our 3d year classes in the presence of a professional partner or of a disabled person." explains Cindy Dolomieu, a 5th year student in the Industrial Engineering Department and coordinator of the Week.
"The school also helps raise awareness through sport by offering sports lessons in which students are placed in the position of a disabled person. Hence all the students will have been touched by this campaign at least once during their time at INSA Lyon."
