US-Tagging: a project selected by the ANR (National Research Agency)

US-Tagging: a project selected by the ANR (National Research Agency) in the 2010 Young Researchers programme

US-Tagging concerns a new type of ultrasound imaging dedicated to monitoring cardiac structures. The project, selected by the ANR (National Agency for Research) scientific committee for Physics, living chemistry and biotechnological innovations, is led by Hervé Liebgott, a young Senior Lecturer recruited by CREATIS in 2006. The project involves 4 young researchers from the laboratory: Olivier Bernard (Senior Lecturer INSA-Lyon) Loic Boussel (Hospital Practitioner- HCL) and Adrian Basarab (Senior Lecturer IRIT Toulouse, former doctoral student at Creatis).

The aim of the US-Tagging project is to propose a new method of cardiac ultrasound imaging that makes it possible to monitor cardio-anatomical structures in order to facilitate the early detection and monitoring of cardiac pathologies. The originality of the project is based on a technique for creating ultrasound images with localised tagging of the tissues through a space-specific pulsed response (called transverse oscillations). The project name was chosen in acknowledgement of cardio-imaging via magnetic nuclear resonance, known as MRI Tagging.
