The University of Tokyo at INSA Lyon

As part of the 8th session of the prestigious Todai Forum

This year, the University of Lyon hosted the 8th session of the prestigious Todai Forum and welcomed over 120 Japanese delegates led by Junichi Hamada, the President of the University of Tokyo. Following on from San Francisco, Singapore, Stockholm, Beijing, Seoul, and London, the choice of Lyon, in parallel with Paris, bears witness to the importance and quality of academic relations between the University of Tokyo (commonly abbreviated to Tōdai) and the University of Lyon.

The Todai Forum 2011 was hosted by the University of Lyon (and in Paris by the College of France). In Lyon, the Forum was managed by the ENS (main project manager). INSA Lyon played a major role in the negotiation and then assisted the ENS in the scientific and logistical organisation of the event. Two scientific seminars were organised in the Marie Curie Library at INSA.

As well as these seminars, INSA Lyon hosted the "study fair" of the University of Tokyo in the AGORA; this was a unique opportunity for students from the University of Lyon to meet managers from the University of Tokyo. There were also stands presenting the University of Lyon's Japanese study offer, a stand representing the Rhône-Alpes Region, the JNTO (Japanese National Tourist Office), and the JSPS (Japanese society for the Promotion of Science), as well as Franco-Japanese associations from Lyon.

Thanks to the initiative of INSA Lyon, a working session on "International Mobility" was organised in order to discuss ways of boosting and balancing student and researcher exchanges between our establishments and our countries.

These days were instrumental in further developing the relations between the teams and establishing INSA Lyon, part of the University of Lyon, as one of Todai's strategic partners.
