Training through apprenticeship

Engineer in Mechanical engineering, Design and Product Innovation

After launching the work-study degree programme in "Mechanical Engineering in Plastic Processing" in 2009 (in partnership with the CIRFAP, and whose first students will graduate at the end of the 2011-2012 school year), INSA Lyon has been proposing, since September 2011, a new curriculum through apprenticeship in "Mechanical engineering, Design and Product Innovation" (GMCIP), in addition to the classical section and in partnership with the "ITII de Lyon". Below is a presentation of this new apprenticeship course and the highly-motivated "GMCIP" 2011-2014 class, with Claude Boyer and Fabrice Morestin, Heads of Study.

This new engineering course in mechanical engineering was developed by a team of teacher-researchers from the Mechanical Engineering Design Department at INSA Lyon, which initiated the project in partnership with the "ITII de Lyon" (Institute of Technology for Engineers and Industry) in order to meet the market needs and the growing demand for mechanical engineers.

The course's main objectives are to teach the basics for formalising complex mechanical problems for virtual prototyping of products and production systems as well as an understanding of the sophisticated tools for PLM, Product Life Management.

Based on the initial training in Mechanical Engineering that recruits have already received, the engineering degree programme in "Mechanical Engineering, Innovative Design of Products and Production Systems" teaches students to use digital simulation tools for CAD and physical analysis in a wide range of mechanical fields for applications in studying and building sophisticated equipment in an industrial environment.

Note: Application forms for candidates in training 2012/2015 promotions should be sent to the ITII Lyon before Thursday, March 15, 2012.
