The British survey firm Quacquarelli Symonds (QS), specialised in providing information for students and young professionals, published its annual survey on its website. It is made up of 29 rankings grouped into 5 major fields (Natural sciences, Life sciences & Medicine, Engineering & Technology, Social sciences & Management, Arts & Humanities). 

In Civil Engineering, INSA Lyon is ranked among the 101-150th best universities in the world; it is the first and only French school in this ranking.

In the materials science ranking, INSA Lyon is ranked among the 51-100th best universities in the world, placing it 3rd among French engineering schools and 14th among European schools.

Finally, in mechanical engineering, INSA Lyon is among the 101-150th best universities in the world and ranked 5th among French engineering schools.

The QS World University Rankings stands out from other international rankings through its classification methodology. For each of the 29 subjects, the survey is based on the school's reputation with university academics and employers, as well as the number of bibliographic references and publications in national and international journals. The weighting for each criterion depends on the subject area.
