Mexico & Latin America Diversity Week
Events open to all from 16 to 19 May 2011
The "Centre Diversité et Réussite" (Centre for Diversity and Success), the First Cycle, the AMERINSA section and the INSA Lyon Cultural Department are organising the Mexico and Latin America Diversity week from 16 to 19 May 2011.
This week marks the culmination of a year of international partnership concerning renewable energies, explored by the CRITER programme (Design and Implementation of Technology Innovations in Renewable Energies) and developed within the Centre for Diversity and Success. This action associated secondary-school students studying technology in Lyon and the surrounding area, second-year students at INSA Lyon and students from technical schools in Argentina and Mexico on joint projects such a tidal turbine, a solar water heater, a solar-powered car, a domestic wind turbine and a multi-directional solar panel. The exchange of ideas between partners of different nationalities promoted a cohesive international environment, confirmed by the visit of Argentinian and Mexican colleagues at INSA Lyon during the week.
This programme embodies one of the missions of the Centre for Diversity and Success, which seeks to build bridges between different academic sections in order to open up the sciences of engineering, encourage ambitions and make students aware of the importance of working together. This underlines that everyone has a role to play in the successful completion of joint projects.
Other events will add extra "spice" to the week: a stage-set reading from "Hecho en Mexico", an event created by the "Organisation" association, the "Barrio Foto" documentary filmed in a Mexican working-class district, exhibitions of photos taken in Mexico and Latin America, a Mexican meal at "Le Grillon", a play created by the TYC troupe and its musicians...
