Masters Degree in Physics, SYVIC
(synthesis, aging, characterization of nuclear materials) specialization
Baccalaureate + 5 (2nd year Masters) program co-taught by the UCBL/INSA de Lyon
The SYVIC masters degree is designed around the 3 major themes of Synthesis, Aging, and Characterization of nuclear materials. The program emphasis is on the challenges inherent in the materials used during the nuclear electricity generation cycle, in terms of sustainable development.
On the one hand, these challenges concern the materials present in current (PWR and European PWR) and future (GenIV, ITER) reactors, and on the other hand, materials related to nuclear waste management.
This specialization was created to meet the needs of industry, as well as those of private and public research.

Training Planning
- Theoretical and practical lectures (6 months) given by university teachers or nuclear experts.
- Internship (5 months) in a nuclear company or a research laboratory (University or INSA)
- Specific teaching units may be pooled with other masters such as Chemistry and Material Science of Lyon 1 university and the Master Materials Science for Nuclear Energy of the Phelma school in Grenoble.
