Social security

Students doing the internship in Europe must request the European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) directly from their social security payment centre
Students doing the internship outside Europe must take out private insurance for health and hospitalisation (LMDE, SMERRA, AIPS, ASFE/OCI…) Those going to Quebec must request the specific form from the DRI: SE 401 Q 106 for exchanges and SE 401 Q 104 for internships.

For internships, the social security cover depends on the type of internship, whether it is paid or not, subject to an agreement or not, as well as the host country. La Caisse des Français à l’Etranger, the social security for French expatriates, provides “Work accident” cover, whatever the minimum duration of the internship.
