International Sections
The international dimension is an integral part of training at all levels of the curriculum. It is for this reason that INSA Lyon joined the European Credit Transfer System (ECTS) which enables students to validate study periods abroad (for French students) or in France (for foreign students).
During their five years, each student must spend a significant study period abroad: at INSA, we learn to live, work, and think with other cultures.
Language teaching is an essential element of engineering courses at INSA.
An International Relations Department is in charge of promoting mobility and helping students - French and foreign - in all their endeavours.
Integrating an international section
Either as a French candidate, or as a foreign candidate; the international sections mix foreign students and French students. Some sections are aimed at students from a particular geographical area.
The programme is identical to that of the classical course, but has specific characteristics:
- courses in small groups,
- 2 languages are compulsory (besides the mother tongue),
- scientific support
- awareness of cultures and international institutions,
- courses in FFL (French as a Foreign Language) for foreign students
- mandatory ‘worker’ internship for one to two months: in France for foreign students, in a non-French-speaking country for French students (Asia for French students at ASINSA, Europe for French students at EURINSA, South America for French students at AMERINSA).
