International policy
Since its creation, INSA Lyon has considered that the quality of the education delivered to the engineering students as well as the quality of the research must be also based on a broad international opening.
INSA Lyon updates regularly its international policy in a global context which has greatly evolved towards a vast competitive area. After its excellent national ranking, INSA Lyon aims at being among the European Top 10 of engineering schools.
Two main missions have been identified:
1. Training international talents (engineers and doctors)
2. Giving an intelligible vision of its educational, research and innovative activities.
INSA Lyon integrated in networks
The international strategy integrates different scales such as sites, alliances and networks. It is also consistent with local policies (Campus LyonTech, Université de Lyon), regional policies (Région Rhône-Alpes, AGERA1 ), national policies (INSA Group, MESR, CGE2 , CDEFI3 ), as well as European and international policies.
Through a worldwide network of partner universities, INSA Lyon aims at going further in the collaboration with existing partners by promoting institutionalised mobility and developing structuring projects. The double-degree sections are preferred because they meet companies’ demands. INSA Lyon must play a role in companies’ international development, especially European ones.
A worldwide influence
INSA Lyon has relations on the five continents. In Europe naturally with a hundred partner universities in the framework of Erasmus Program for example, but also in North America, Japan, India, China, Vietnam, Mexico, Brazil, Morocco, etc.
The European dimension of INSA Lyon also serves a better competitiveness around the world. Indeed, INSA Lyon welcomes today around 1900 foreign students representing more than one hundred nationalities.
INSA Lyon enjoys a great international experience and expertise which is developed in various ways through structuring projects in education and research (LIA and UMI4 ); original and innovative actions (international sections, summer school programs..); transfer of educational engineering expertise with the successful export of the “Engineer Entrepreneur Program” to Mexico and Algeria; federating projects that reinforce the School, the local area and the brand INSA.
An internationalisation process strongly settled
To conclude, our international strategy is based on excellence criteria and long-term collaborations encouraging a strong interweaving of activities in education, research and industry.
The international dimension influences the overall INSA Lyon policy, supports educational and scientific strategy, and promotes the School’s values which are humanism, culture, diversity, interculturality, and social responsibility.
