International mobility
Joining an academic exchange programme
For several decades, INSA Lyon has provided international mobility programmes for its students. Today, mobility involves around ¾ of the students in each class.
Academic exchanges are done either in the 4th or 5th year and last for a semester or a full year
Partner universities
400 INSA Lyon students are doing an academic exchange in 2009/2010 in one of INSA's 230 partner universities.
There are two types of agreement: LLP/Erasmus agreements with Europe and bilateral agreements for all other destinations.
Specific funding
INSA manages 4 programmes for Academic Exchange Grants, subject to eligibility according to our specific criteria:
EXPLO’RA Grants. Amount: 95 euros a week, i.e. 380 euros a month for the academic exchanges and internships (+ a fixed amount of 530 euros for students on a state grant).
All destinations.- LLP/Erasmus Grants (Programme d’Education et de Formation Tout au Long de la Vie/Lifelong Learning Programme). These complement the Explo'Ra grants. The amount is determined according to the budget that is allocated by the Socrates Erasmus Agency. European destinations.
- Mobility grants. Allocation criteria: must be the recipient of a French government grant and inform the DRI of this fact. Amount: 400 euros a month. All destinations.
- International Support Funds (FSI)
Internal funding using the FSI mandatory enrolment fees paid by all students undertaking an Academic Exchange.
The fund is used to complement the allocations through the aforementioned processes. A jury including students, notably, and representatives from the Social Service studies the files and decides on the allocation.
Dual diplomas
Certain Universities have dual diploma agreements with one or several departments at INSA Lyon. The stays abroad are usually done over two distinct years (4th and 5the years) with a study period beyond the 5th year at INSA.
