Safran Group accompanies INSA Lyon students in their career plan
In 2011, SAFRAN created, jointly with the AREVA group, a teaching and research chair with INSA Lyon related to the life cycle of Materials, entitled: “Life extension and manufacturing processes”.
SAFRAN Head of Human resources chose to complete the research section of this partnership through reinforced cooperation via a "Student Career Plan Support" programme, in order to develop knowledge of the Group, its business lines and products within INSA Lyon and accompany the students in the edification of their career plans.
Approached at INSA Lyon as a pedagogic module, "Student Career Plan Support" provides a practical answer to the questions of engineer-students, enables to clarify their career plan, confront it to reality through work placements and through the discovery of engineering professions…
The objective is to lead students to carry out their first professional choices by leaning on a career plan elaborated and matured throughout the entire study period, for example by creating a meeting and dialogue space between the engineer-students and the companies.
As part of the SAFRAN partnership, 3 key student support actions are offered.
• "Career Path" conference
Presentation by a SAFRAN Group Ambassador* of his career path and of the field of engineering before a group of 100 first year students on their first day of class. Individual interview and self-knowledge coaching.
• Support for the workman internship
At the end of the first year, over the summer, INSA engineer students carry out as teams a workman type internship lasting from 4 to 8 weeks. The mission of the engineers intervening within this work placement is to guide the student, help him to prepare and think of this first professional experience as would a future engineer.
• Female Mentorship This support programme aims to enable students to visualise the scope of engineering professions, to have a positive engineering identification model, to be accompanied in their specific professional queries, to make their INSA training project their own.
*In order to support these actions, Safran leans on its ambassador network, ex-students and partner universities. Composed of over 240 engineers belonging to the Group from 22 partner establishments, this network counts today over 15 engineers originating from INSA Lyon.
