Inauguration of the AREVA-SAFRAN Chair
A Chair dedicated to the study of material life-cycle extension
The INSA Lyon Foundation, created to support INSA Lyon's development, has signed a sponsorship agreement with AREVA (specialised in the energy sector), and SAFRAN (specialised in the aerospace Defence and Security sector) to create a teaching and research Chair. Dedicated to studying the life-cycle of materials and manufacturing processes, the Chair will receive 300,000 euros of funding per year for 5 years.
Signed for an initial period of 5 years, the Chair is under the responsibility of Professor Alain Combescure, a professor at INSA Lyon, former Director of the LaMCoS Laboratory (Contact and Structural Mechanics Laboratory) and President of the "Institut Carnot INGENIERIE@LYON". The holder of the Chair will be supported by a team of three people (1 Senior Lecturer and 2 doctoral students), from INSA Lyon laboratories, such as LaMCoS or Mateis (Materials: Engineering and Sciences), devoted to the study of the mechanical properties of materials.
