A highly-active summer for INSA Lyon’s Students’ Office

Summer School, preparation for the integration week and weekend…

Although the INSA Lyon campus is on vacation this summer, its Students’ Office remains highly active. The office is open every Tuesday and Thursday from 6 pm to 8 pm so that students on-site may access the community-based services that the students’ Office proposes year-round. But more than anything else, the members of the Students’ Office are busy preparing the activities for the second part of the summer – welcoming foreign students, the upcoming 55th academic year and, of course, the upstream preparation for events such as the gala, the rally and the end-of-undergraduate-studies weekend (the DIPC).

Summer School

This year, the first of August marks Summer School kick-off, with the arrival of the first foreign undergraduate (1st cycle) students, followed by the Erasmus students, the students from French overseas departments, the FAS (Active Science Training), the Chinese Masters and Doctoral candidates, as well as the students from the NPU program (Northwestern Polytechnic University) and the Cordées de la réussite (Success through Solidarity). A team, coordinated by Philippe Lamelot, began organizing the Summer School a few months ago. The students’ Office will be even more involved in integrating foreign students in the campus as it is fully in charge of the project.

Preparing the integration week and the 55th academic year…

During the second half of the summer, over one hundred Sponsorship Committee members will arrive. All are active Students’ Office members and, of course, volunteers who have already started organizing their projects so that newcomers may integrate the campus, where they are going to study to become engineers, under the most optimal conditions and as calmly and collectedly as possible.
Preparation for this integration has already begun: a facebook group has been created to enable newcomers to chat together and to ask questions; the sponsorship publication presenting INSA has already been transmitted to those admitted, so that they may be even more motivated to discover and live the INSA experience; and the Sponsorship Committee is working on the various integration week events.

Rounding off integration: the WEI (Integration Weekend)

Vacation is not easy either for the Integration Weekend Organization Committee (the CoWEI), which has been working since last November to prepare an unforgettable event for around 500 newcomers.
During the night of September 23 to 24, the majority of this 55th academic year will leave with around forty organizers and members of the Students’ Office on a trip to Port-Barcarès. There, they will have the opportunity to take part in a myriad of fun-filled activities: inflatable structures, team games, beach sports, swimming pool, etc. The traditional “integration” swim and the “family” photo of all the newcomers on the beach will, without a doubt, be something for each and everyone to remember.
