A great vintage for the 2011 High Level Sports Section (SHN)!

A new class of 26 engineering students

In September, the High Level Sports section (SHN) welcomed a new class of 26 engineering students, boasting high quality in terms of sport (including 22 students on ministerial high-level list – in 14 individual and team sports*) and academics (sample in line with the classical section with an overall Baccalaureate average of 16 in Mathematics and 17.3 in Physics).

This new class in the SHN section (created in 1981 under the management of M. Hamelin, the former director of INSA) will benefit from a tailored curriculum during their studies at INSA Lyon:

• First cycle in 3 years instead of 2, with a dedicated teaching team: Martine Dervieux (OMSI [Mathematical Tools for Engineering sciences]), Jean-Claude Valletta (Mathematics), Philippe Steyer (chemistry), Rémi Hervé (Physics), Nicolas Totaro (Computing), coordinated by Nicole Moretto (secretary for the section and the Sports Centre) and Michel Bouvard (Director of the SHN section) in conjunction with Carole Plossu, director of the 1st cycle.
• Specific timetabling within the departments.

Note: this year, 4 high-level sports students (rowing, handball, squash, athletics) were admitted directly into the 3rd year. They have personalised study timetables to fit their respective personal constraints and their departments.
