Financial support
Grants based on social criteria
Paid by the CROUS, higher education grants (Ministry of Higher Education and Research) are intended to enable their beneficiaries to undertake higher education in circumstances where without this support, they would not be able to do so due to their social circumstances.
Nationality conditions: grants based on social criteria are reserved for students of French nationality only. Exceptions exist for students from the European Union and for other nationalities, subject in particular in the case of the latter for them to have been resident in France for at least two years along with the tax household to which they belong.
Age conditions: for an initial application the applicant must be aged under 26 years on the 1st October of the university year.
Diploma conditions: applicants must prove they have passed the baccalaureate or an equivalent entry qualification or are exempt.
INSA Lyon solidarity fund
All students admitted to INSA Lyon must be able to continue their studies without being penalized by their social background. Our school's wish in this context was given formal expression in 1991 when a solidarity fund was set up at the students' instigation as a real symbol of a system of mutual support among students.
Set up by a decision of the Management Board on 13/06/1991, at the request of the students and social service, the aim of the solidarity fund is to mitigate the limits of the overall financial support system (grants and loans on trust) granted by the ministry responsible for higher education via CROUS.
All students, registered in the first or second cycle without distinction of nationality, can if facing major financial difficulty, seek financial support in the context of the solidarity fund.
The solidarity fund is funded by an annual contribution of 17 euros paid by students on their registration.
