EBEC engineering competition
INSA Lyon wins the French final
From June 1st to 3rd 2012, the BEST Lyon association organized the French final of the European BEST Engineering Competition on the Lyon Tech La Doua campus. INSA Lyon won the contest with a team made up of engineering students in Civil Engineering and Urban Development and a second team made up of first cycle students.
The teams from Centrale Paris, SUPELEC Paris, ENSTA, ENSAM Paris, ENSAM Bordeaux, Grenoble INP and INSA Lyon, all winners in their respective local rounds, affronted each other in two competitions:
A case study: aiming at making students reflect on a concrete problem proposed by a company.
A Team Design: a test calling on students’ imagination by asking them to make highly complex structures and giving them the minimum amount of equipment required.
From INSA Lyon, the teams bearing the school’s colours were a team of GCU (civil engineering and urban development) students (winners of the Team Design) and first cycle team (winners of the case study).
The winning teams of the French EBEC are qualified for the European final which will take place in Zagreb, Croatia from August 1st to 8th.
This grand finale is an event that is unique in its way as students selected at the 13 national or regional rounds (Italy, Benelux, Spain, Romania-Moldavia, Estonia-Latvia-Lithuania-Russia, Czech Republic-Slovakia-Austria, Poland, Turkey, Sweden-Denmark-Norway-Finland, Greece, Ukraine, Portugal and France) will be confronting each other for a grand finale.
