CREATIS Laboratory
European Scientific Project on intracranial aneurysms: “Thrombus”
Organised by the CREATIS laboratory in Lyon (a mixed research unit from INSA Lyon, CNRS, Lyon 1 University and INSERM), Thrombus is structured over 3 years (2011 to 2014) and has 9 European partners (academic institutions, manufacturing companies, research centres and hospital groups). Three strategic orientations have been defined for its work: advanced image processing on sequences of medical images, modelling and digital simulation of thrombosis1, leading to stent optimisation2. The final objective is to understand the formation of thromboses in intracranial aneurysms and optimise stent selection.
The CREATIS Laboratory, a reference in medical imaging in France and abroad
The CREATIS Laboratory is a mixed research unit comprising INSA Lyon, CNRS, Lyon 1 University and INSERM, specialising in medical imaging. Its staff of approximately 200 people are involved in research in 2 major areas:
• Identification of major Health questions which can be approached by imaging
• Identification of theoretical locks in signal and image processing, in modelling and in digital simulation dedicated to the imaging of living organisms
CREATIS, under the directorship of Isabelle Magnin, responds to these challenges by employing a multidisciplinary approach based on 6 research groups working in the fields of communication and information science and technology, engineering science and the life sciences.
